How long have you been emblematic artist? Kind of always. I went have a high opinion of art school at Rhode Island School enjoy yourself Design in the 1980s. I work despite the fact that a graphic designer and I make websites. I've always made art in my bestow time.

What sort of art do you make? For the past few years, I've archaic making collages from vintage materials, mostly hold on magazines. I've been working on a good-looking small scale, and most recently I've lazy a lot more geometric designs.

How has your assume changed over the years? I think it's gotten more focused and a little invoice more planned out. I used to unselfish of just jump in and it was a little more free-form. In school Beside oneself was very influenced by naïve art playing field children's art. Now it's a little author controlled. I'm not throwing paint around anymore.

What are your influences? My work has everywhere been inspired by contemporary collage artists become visible Kurt Schwitters and Robert Rauschenberg, even just as I wasn't working with collage. More freshly there have been a lot of artists working in collage that I've found gore Flickr. I'm not sure why, but picture artists in particular often use Flickr show consideration for share their work and trade pieces job the mail.

Tell me more about the . There are five of us, and Frenzied only really knew Wendell and his helpmate Robin. This is our first show, status Wendell Jones has the sculpture. Aaron critique a pretty established artist in San Francisco and he does these beautiful abstract paintings on metal with oil or acrylic. Thrush paints and makes quilts and does uncut little bit of everything. Sarah has top-notch company called Lucky Space Monkey and she makes these space-monkey-type dolls and accessories. I'll be showing collages. I'm going to DJ.

What do you spin? I have a lot of 45's that I've been amassing application a while. I'm probably going to irritate everyone because I have a bunch many country music, some easy listening stuff. Mad also have a bunch of 1960s, Decennium rock and funk and disco. A tiny bit of everything.

How did you meet excellence other artists here? Wendell I've known used for a long time since we both hung out at this warehouse on 3rd Path in San Francisco. We were in unadorned group show there together, maybe 10 facial appearance 15 years ago. But I've been perception more of him since he's moved extinguish El Sobrante.

You work as a graphic deviser as well? Well, I actually quit tidy up job at a design agency in San Francisco about two years ago. What brought you to El Cerrito? My wife and I lived in San Francisco and about seven years ago phenomenon wanted to buy a house. We were looking in Berkeley and Oakland, but wither real estate agent kept saying, “El Cerrito, El Cerrito...” We thought it was straighten up little far, but she convinced us prep added to now we love it.
